Greetings and Happy New Year!
It has been a LONG time since I've written anything and there are some new things in my life.
First, and most importantly, I had a beautiful, healthy baby girl in July. Her name is Talynn and she is the happiest baby I think I've ever seen. Jessie is a great big sister and loves "Baby Sister super mega, mega, MEGA!"
Secondly, we've moved to a larger apartment, NO MORE SUPERING FOR ME!!! It means more free time (not that it was a hard job) and no more worrying that someone is going to come knocking at my door for some silly thing.
The weight loss journey got derailed. First by Mr T getting a job while we were supers leaving me to take care of things, then by Miss Talynn. But I have gotten back on track and am quite determined. I'm getting a treadmill soon so that should take me through the winter. We'll see what I decide to do in the summer when the sun is calling me.
Geez...you'd think that after all this time I'd have more to report. One does not realize how boring one is until one tries to write about it. Maybe as time goes by I'll have more to report. But, for now, that's it. It's all good though...these creatures I call children seem to want some attention.
Buh-bye!

I'm such a quitter and loser...but in a good way!
Happy March!
OK, so what has been happening with me? Well, I have decided to both quit smoking and lose weight. Neither are easy, put them both together and I can get very, VERY cranky (just ask Mr. T).
The smoking is going...well, it's going. Some days are better than others. The better days are out numbering the not so good days, so I'm happy with how it's going. Now that is all I shall say on the subject...it's kinda making me want one.
On to the weight loss quest. It's going pretty good too. I've lost a couple of pounds in the past week or so which makes me happy. I really didn't think I did just for the simple fact that I really hate exercising. And I don't mean "Oh I hate this, just one more set". I mean "Ermergerd! If I have to exercise I'm gonna have to hurt somebody!" OK, maybe not quite THAT bad, but close. I have been watching what I eat, cutting out all the crappy food, all that good stuff. I have a kick-butt app I use called My Fitness Pal. Tracks calories, exercise (*snort* right) weight, measurements (if one chooses to measure various body parts)...it's pretty cool. (Think I can get paid for the plug?)
All in all I'm quite pleased with how things are going. Now, I think I'll go have some of the Pot of Gold a very nice lady in our building gave us...half a box shouldn't hurt, right?

Cooking/Baking Attempts and why they failed
Happy February 1st!
OK, so anyone who knows me, knows I don't cook. Not that I can't, because I'm a darn good cook, I just don't like to. It's boring, the kitchen gets too hot, excuse, excuse, excuse. Well, I decided I'm going to start. I've been pinning on Pinterest for the past few weeks and I've found some good stuff.
The first thing I tried was a penne and bacon dish. I figured, "Hey! It's pasta and bacon. I can't mess up pasta and bacon!" And I was wrong. Some things just can't be substituted. I have EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) in the cupboard. I figured I could use it instead of regular olive oil. WRONG!! Completely different tastes. But we ate it, Mr T. said it was good. (I still think he was just being nice).
I also tried cupcakes. Cupcakes, you say? Who can mess up cupcake? THIS girl! The recipe said to mix butter and sugar together with and electric mixer. I didn't have one. Meh...a fork will work. OK, maybe a spatula. Yeah...no. It just doesn't get enough air into the mix. But that's OK. I can handle not so light and fluffy. They'll still bake OK. Oh, did you know all-purpose flour can't/shouldn't be used instead of self-rising flour? 'Cause I didn't. Needless to say they weren't the greatest. But they had chocolate icing, and chocolate makes EVERYTHING better.
Just FYI...I did go buy a mixer yesterday. It's black, has a bunch of different mixing apparatuses and a little black case to put everything in. It is definitely going to get a lot of use.
So what have I learned from this? 1. Do not substitute unless you know it will work. 2. Have the right "tools" for the job. And 3. Cover everything with chocolate and no one will notice the rest.
Happy eating everyone!

Here we go...
OK, so this is my first ever attempt to blog. Stick with me, this may take a while to get use to.
I am a stay at home mother to a wonderful little girl. The happiest day of my life was the day she was born. The next day I realized I have to lose the baby weight. Here we are 17 months later and I haven't. Join me on my journey as I try to shed those unwanted pounds and inches (yeah...we may be here a while for that!)
Every so often, I'm sent funny things via email (thanks Mom), or see them on different websites, on TV or just have random nutty conversations with people. I feel these things should be shared with the world. So, share them I shall.
I've also been looking up recipes to try. As I try them, I plan on sharing them, for better or worse. And I am a VERY picky eater...so this should be interesting.
And away we go!!!
